FWA Youth Program
The Florida Writers Association Youth program is for writers in middle and high school. We help young writers, regardless of their age or socio-economic condition, achieve more in school and in life. We believe all children should have a chance to live out their dreams. So we foster creativity and mutual support through our network of writers, teachers, poets, editors, publishers, and agents.
FWAY offers a variety of programs to help young writers advance in their careers.
3rd Annual Florida Writers Youth Conference
October 17, 2015 • Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs
This day-long conference, held in conjunction with the FWA annual conference, offers top-notch teaching by a variety of industry professionals. The Youth Royal Palm Literary Awards are presented at this event. See the Youth Conference page at FWA’s website.
Youth Royal Palm Literary Awards
The Royal Palm Literary Awards is Florida’s premiere writing competition. FWAY members receive one free RPLA entry. All entries receive objective and constructive written assessments. Entries are accepted from January 15 through May 15, so the 2015 awards are closed. See the RPLA page at FWA’s website.
Florida Writers Association Collection
Every year, the Florida Writers Association produces an anthology of short stories written by members. FWAY members are eligible to enter the competition for this collection. The competition runs annually from January 1 through April 30, so the 2015 competition is now closed. See the Collection page at FWA’s website.
Membership in the FWA Youth program is $15 per year, which includes a subscription to The Florida Writer magazine and one free RPLA entry. See the Membership page at FWA’s website.
